- 5 lb. (11 c., quartered) ripe red tomatoes
- 4 lb. sugar
- 2 lemons, sliced thin
Directions

1Scald, peel and quarter tomatoes.

2Add sugar and let stand overnight.

3Drain off juice and boil it rapidly until it spins a thread when dropped from spoon.

4Add tomatoes and lemons and boil until thick and clear.

5Add a few drops of red food coloring. Pour into hot jars and seal.
