- 1 lb. pinto beans
- 1/2 c. lard
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Wash and drain beans.

2Soak overnight.

3Drain and rinse.

4Add salt and lard.

5Cook slowly with water to cover beans on medium heat until tender.

6Add water, if needed.

7When tender, drain and save liquid.

8Mash the beans.
-
9If beans are too dry when mashing, add some reserved liquid.
