Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. scalded milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 2 cakes yeast
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 7 1/2 c. sifted flour

Directions

    Combine shortening and scalded milk.

    Stir until shortening is melted.

    Combine beaten eggs, sugar and salt and beat in cold water.

    Soften yeast in lukewarm water and combine the three mixtures.

    Add the flour and knead until smooth.

    Cover tight and refrigerate overnight.

    Shape as standard rolls and let rise in warm place.

    Bake at 375°.

    Keep remainder of dough covered tight and refrigerated.

    Dough will keep 5 or so days.
