Rice Pilaf

Ingredients

  • 1 cube butter (not margarine)
  • scant handful crushed coiled fideo or vermicelli
  • 1 c. Uncle Ben's rice (not instant)
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes or 2 tsp. granules
  • dash of garlic pepper

Directions

    Melt butter in saucepan.

    Add pasta and saute until limp or slightly browned.

    Do not burn butter.

    Add rice and bouillon dissolved in hot water.

    Add garlic pepper.

    Reduce heat, put lid on pot and simmer on low 25 minutes without peeking.

    May be baked in oven instead of on cooktop.

    Onions, mushrooms, artichoke hearts or whatever your heart desires may be added and cooked with rice.
