  • 1/3 c. uncooked white rice
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 qt. milk (4 c.)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. light cream
  • cinnamon, nutmeg and raisins (optional)

Directions

    Combine rice with sugar, milk, salt and vanilla (and raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg) in a 1 1/2 to 2-quart casserole.

    Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours (90 minutes), stirring when a crust forms on top.

    Add cream after the 90 minutes, but do not stir.

    Bake another 20 to 30 minutes.

    Cool.

    Pudding will get creamy while standing.
