- 3/4 c. lukewarm milk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 yeast cake
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 c. soft shortening
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Mix together the milk, sugar and salt; crumble yeast into mixture.

2Add egg and shortening; stir until shortening is melted. Add flour and beat for 1 minute, at least 100 strokes.

3Scrape down from sides of bowl.

4Cover with damp cloth and let rise at 85° until double in bulk (about 1 3/4 hours).
