- 1 c. rice
- 1 sliced onion
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 4 c. soup
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1/2 c. grated cheese
- pinch of cloves
- pinch of thyme
Directions

1Lightly brown rice and onion in shortening.

2Bring soup to a boil. Add rice, onion, bay leaf, cloves and thyme. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook, covered, on low heat until rice is tender.

3Add cheese just before serving.
