- 1 1/2 c. (3 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 4 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Melt the butter; add molasses, sugar and eggs.

2Beat well. Sift together and add to the mixture the flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

3Freeze dough for several hours.

4Break off pieces of dough (heaping teaspoon-size) and roll into small balls. Roll balls in sugar.

5Place on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart.

6Bake in a preheated 385° oven until firm and brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.

7Makes 10 dozen.
