  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp. milk or cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

    Mix together thoroughly the shortening, margarine, sugar and egg.

    Stir in milk and vanilla flavoring.

    Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder and salt.

    Chill dough for several hours. Roll very thin (1/16-inch).

    Cut into desired shapes.

    Place on lightly greased baking sheet; sprinkle with sugar.

    Bake at 425° for 5 to 7 minutes.

    Makes about 4 dozen.
