- 4 lb. sugar
- 5 gal. water (lukewarm)
- 1 bottle root beer extract
- 1/2 to 1 pkg. compressed yeast (more in cold weather)
Directions

1Dissolve sugar in lukewarm water. Add root beer extract and compressed yeast. Mix and bottle; cork and seal tightly.

2Set in warm place. Root beer is ready for use in 10 to 12 hours. It is better if allowed to stand for several days. Store in a cool place.
