- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 apple, peeled and sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 4 c. shredded red cabbage
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. sugar or apple jelly
- 1 or 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1/2 c. red wine
- 1 Tbsp. flour
Directions

1Melt butter.

2Add apple and onion.

3Cook until soft.

4Add cabbage.

5Stir to blend.

6Add vinegar, sugar, garlic and wine. Cook covered until cabbage is tender, about 12 minutes.

7Thicken sauce with flour first, adding a little of the liquid to the flour to make a paste.

8Simmer until sauce is smooth.

9Makes 4 servings.
