- 1 1/2 c. milk, scalded
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. butter or shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water (about 100~)
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 6 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. rum extract
- 1/2 c. chopped raisins (optional)
Directions

1Scald milk and pour into mixing bowl.

2Add 1/2 cup sugar, butter and salt.

3Mix until butter melts. In a separate bowl, sprinkle the dry yeast into the 1/2 cup warm water.

4Add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and swirl to moisten each granule.

5Let rest and proof for 5 minutes.
