- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour (not self-rising flour)
- 3/4 c. finely chopped nuts (walnuts preferred)
- 1/2 c. confectioners sugar (plus more for coating after baking)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Heat oven to 400°.

2Mix thoroughly butter, sugar and vanilla. Work in flour, salt and nuts until dough holds together.

3Shape into 1-inch balls and flatten slightly with fingers.

4Place on ungreased baking sheet that has been lined with parchment.

5Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set, but not brown.

6While warm, dust generously with confectioners sugar.

7Cool, then dust with sugar again.

8Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
