Sausage Kolaches

Ingredients

  • 2 c. warm water
  • 2 heaping Tbsp. dry yeast
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. dry milk
  • 1/3 c. butter Crisco
  • 1 stick plus 2 Tbsp. melted margarine
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour
  • sausage or breakfast links

Directions

    In large bowl, mix the water, sugar and yeast.

    Then add the lukewarm margarine and Crisco.

    Also the beaten eggs.

    Then add the dry milk, flour and salt.

    Mix until you have a smooth dough. Cover and let rise for about 15 minutes.

    Punch down and knead until real smooth again.

    Let rise again until double in size. Spoon out dough and wrap it around sausages.

    Butter tops and let rise again.

    Bake at 375° until browned.

    Brush with oleo when done, cover with clean cloth until cool.

    Approximately 40 rolls.
