  • 2-1/2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 4-1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cream Of Tartar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cups Shortening
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 6 ounces, weight Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 1/4 cups Diced Green Chilies
  • 4 strips Bacon, Cooked And Crumbled

    Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add egg and milk. Mix in cheese, chilies, and crumbled bacon.

    Turn out on floured surface and knead 10-15 times. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place on greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
