Scalloped Ham (With Cabbage)

- 1 lb. cooked ham, diced
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 1/4 lb. (2-qt.) coarsely shredded cabbage
- 1/4 c. chopped green pepper
- 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. milk
- 3/4 c. grated American cheese
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Directions

1Melt 1/4 cup butter or margarine; stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly.

2Cook until thick.

3Steam or cook cabbage in boiling water for 5 minutes.

4Add cheese and green pepper to white sauce.

5Add diced ham.

6Place a layer of partially cooked cabbage in greased baking dish, then a layer of ham and cheese sauce mixture.

7Repeat layers.

8Melt butter or margarine; mix with crumbs.

9Sprinkle crumbs over mixture in baking dish.

10Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 30 minutes.
