  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. flour or 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 4 slices toasted bread, buttered and cubed
  • 28 oz. tomatoes (3/4 qt.)
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 tsp. prepared mustard

Directions

    Saute celery and onions in margarine.

    Add flour, sugar, salt, pepper and mustard.

    Mix well.

    Add tomatoes and cubed bread. Save enough bread crumbs to put on top.

    Put in 1 1/2-quart casserole and bake at 350° for 50 minutes.
