- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. acting baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter (1/4 lb.)
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. half and half or milk
- 2/3 c. currants (snipped dates very good)
- 3 Tbsp. cream or milk
Directions

1Heat oven to 400°.

2Mix flour, baking powder and sugar and cut in butter as if making pie dough.

3(I use my food processor.) Beat egg into half and half or milk and add to flour mixture.

4Mix barely long enough to moisten flour.

5Gently press into a 9-inch circle or 8 to 9-inch round cake pan and cut into 10 to 12 pie-shaped wedges for a traditional scone.

6Freeze dough until needed.

7Frozen dough bakes better.
