- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- dried cranberries or raisins (optional)
- buttermilk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and cream of tartar, then sift again.

3Cut in the butter. Add a handful of dried cranberries or raisins and the beaten eggs. Blend everything well and then begin adding buttermilk, a little at a time, until you have formed a stiff dough.

4Roll the dough out on a flat surface to a thickness of 1 1/2-inches, then cut out 2-inch round.

5Place on parchment paper and brush with beaten egg and bake for 18 to 20 minutes.
