- 2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. dark corn syrup
- 3/4 c. hot water
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. pecan halves
- 1 (7 1/2 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
Directions

1Combine sugars, syrup, water and salt in heavy saucepan.

2Stir over medium heat until dissolved.

3Bring to a boil without stirring; boil to soft ball stage, about 235°.

4Remove from heat. Beat egg whites stiff, but not dry. Pour syrup in a thin stream into egg whites, beating constantly.

5Add vanilla; stir in pecans and dates when candy thickens and begins to lose gloss.

6Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on waxed paper.

7Yields 75 drops.
