- 3 lb. short ribs of beef
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 c. hot water
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 c. cold water
Directions

1Heat oil in a Dutch oven.

2Add short ribs and brown on all sides.

3Add seasonings, onion and hot water.

4Cover and simmer on low flame for 2 hours or until meat is tender.

5Remove meat. Blend flour and cold water; stir into liquid in pan and continue to cook, stirring, until gravy boils and thickens.

6Season gravy to taste.

7Pour over ribs and serve at once.
