- 3 to 4 lb. chuck roast
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 medium onions, slivered
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomatoes, drained and chopped
- 2 (4 oz.) cans green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp. cumin or more to taste
- 2 tsp. leaf oregano
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Brown chuck roast in oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven.

2Add 1 cup water, cumin and garlic powder.

3Simmer until meat is tender enough to pull apart (1 1/2 to 2 hours).

4Let cool until cool enough to handle.

5With hands remove and discard fat, bones and gristle.

6Shred remaining lean meat.
