- 1 pound shrimp, fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic
- 3 tsp. vegetable oil
- 1 can tomatoes, drained and chopped
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. tabasco
- 1/2 to 1 cup cut okra
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 1 Tbsp. gumbo file, optional
- Rice
Directions

1Clean or thaw shrimp.

2Saute onion, celery, and garlic in oil until tender.

3Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, worcestershire, salt, sugar, chili powder, tabasco, and okra.

4Simmer uncovered for 45 minutes.

5Add shrimp and green pepper.

6Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Add file and stir just before serving over rice.
