Shrimp Creole

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 large chopped green onion
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1 c. sliced celery
  • 2 1/2 c. tomatoes (canned works fine)
  • 1 small can tomato paste if you like creole thick
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. thyme (secret ingredient, use more if you prefer)
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 lb. peeled shrimp

Directions

    Saute onion until soft, not brown.

    Add pepper.

    Cook until soft.

    Add celery and tomato, and paste if using it.

    Bring to boil.

    Reduce heat and add seasonings.

    Simmer until shrimp is done, about 8 minutes.

    Do not overcook shrimp.
