  • 2 small pkg. chopped okra
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 or 4 stalks celery
  • 2 or 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 large bell pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can tomatoes

Directions

    Brown okra with a little oil, stirring often until a little brown and dry, at least 30 minutes.

    Be careful not to burn; add onion, bell pepper and celery.

    After it browns, add a little water, salt, pepper and tomatoes.

    Add raw shrimp; simmer a long while.

    Serve over rice.
