Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 medium clove garlic, minced
- 1 can whole tomatoes, cut up
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 tsp. liquid red pepper (Tabasco)
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 medium bay leaf
- 1 large carrot, thinly sliced
- 2 medium celery stalks, sliced
- 2 medium potatoes, cubed
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 cans shrimp or 1 pkg. precooked shrimp
Directions

1Fry bacon until crisp, drain and crumble.

2Saute onion and garlic in bacon drippings.

3Add tomatoes and liquid.

4Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp.

5Cook to boiling point, reduce heat and simmer 40 minutes, with pot covered.

6Add shrimp and cook until heated through.

7Garnish servings with crumbled bacon (1/3 cup dry white wine may be added before serving). Yields 4 servings.
