- 1 c. boiling water
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 egg or 2 egg yolks
- 3 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Pour boiling water over sugar, shortening and salt in mixing bowl.

2Cool to lukewarm and add yeast, softened in 1/4 cup water. Add beaten egg or egg yolks and mix well.

3Add about half the flour and beat until smooth.

4Add remaining flour and stir to mix thoroughly.

5Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled, approximately 1 hour.

6Stir down and fill greased muffin pans half full.

7Cover and let rise until doubled, approximately 1/2 hour. Bake at 375° to 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.

8When baked, brush tops with melted butter.
