Simple Chocolate Fudge

  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 12 cups milk
  • 18 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 14 cup butter

Directions

    Place chocolate and milk in pan, cook and stir over very low heat until mixture is smooth and well blended & slightly thickened.

    Add sugar and salt stir over med heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture boils.

    Continue boiling over medium heat without stirring until mixture reaches 234 degrees on candy thermometer.

    Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.

    Do NOT stir.

    Cool to 110 degrees then beat until mixture begins to lose its gloss and holds its shape.

    Pour into pan.

    Cool until set then cut into squares.

    Let stand in pan until firm.
