- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 1/2 whole Onion, Diced
- 1 clove Garlic, Minced
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1/2 teaspoons Ground Coriander
- 3-58 ounces, weight Red Lentils
- Boiling Water, Enough To Cover The Lentils
- 1/2 whole Vegetable Stock Cube
Directions

1In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil.

2Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.

3Add the spices and cook for 1 minute further, stirring constantly.

4Add the lentils, and add enough boiling water to easily cover them.

5Sprinkle the stock cube over the top.

6Simmer for 25 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until the lentils are soft and have cooked down to a thick paste.

7You may need to add more water if your dal begins to dry up.

8I prefer my dal to be fairly thick, but you might prefer a runnier mixture.
