Simple Taco Meat

  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1 whole Red Onion, Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 2 pounds Lean Ground Beef Or Turkey
  • 1/4 cups Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Tablespoons Ground Cumin
  • 1 cup Water

Directions

    In a large skillet, melt butter.

    Saute onions and garlic for 2-3 minutes.

    Add ground meat, and cook, stirring to break up, until browned.

    Add seasonings and water.

    Bring to a simmer.

    Simmer, uncovered for 10-15 minutes over low heat.

    You want the water to evaporate but leave the meat moist and well flavored.

    Taste the meat before you consider salting it.

    I find that it doesnt need salt at all.

    Use in tacos or as filling for beef enchiladas.
