- 3 lbs turnips (rutabaga)
- boiling water
- 6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon white pepper
- 14 cup half-and-half
- 3 -4 tablespoons light rum
Directions

1Wash and peel rutabaga's.

2Cut in pieces.

3Place in saucepan and add boiling water to cover.

4Bring to boiling; cook uncovered until tender (about 30 minutes).

5Drain well and return to pan.

6Add rest of ingredients and mash well (using electric mixer) until smooth and fluffy.

7Serve hot, topped with a dollop of butter.
