2 ingredients
15 steps

Ingredients

  • 6 whole Eggs
  • 1 bunch Cherry Wood Chunks, Soaked In Water

Directions

  1. 1
Heat your coals and get your smoker ready.
  2. 2
Once the coals are ready, add the soaked cherry wood, or your favorite wood.
  3. 3
Lay the eggs on the grill grate and cover.
  4. 4
You will want to smoke the eggs for about 2 hours at roughly 230 F. Once the eggs are smoked, remove them from the smoker and let them cool.
  5. 5
There are a few crazy things about these eggs.
  6. 6
One, the smoking process gives them a gorgeous color.
  7. 7
Two, they actually shrink in size.
  8. 8
Its like when you buy a bag of chips and you open them and you only see about 50% of the bag filled.
  9. 9
The shell is a bit difficult to remove but you can do it.
  10. 10
Once you open it up, you see that great smoke ring as you normally would.
  11. 11
The texture is a bit different than a normal hard-boiled egg.
  12. 12
Its firmer and when I bit into it, it almost reminded me of a slightly over-cooked scallop with bacon notes.
  13. 13
These smoked eggs are definitely worth tryingboth of my coworkers agreed.
  14. 14
I have another recipe coming soon, with another twist.
  15. 15
If you are looking for something different to try when smoking, then add a few eggs.
