  • 1 c. soft shortening (part margarine)
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. flour, sifted
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar (for coating)
  • 2 Tbsp. cinnamon (for coating)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400°.

    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs and mix well.

    Sift together flour, cream of tartar and baking soda; add to creamed mixture, mixing well.

    Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.

    Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts.

    Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture.

    Place 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.

    Bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
