- 3 c. White Lily all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400° and lightly grease baking sheets. Combine flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt; set aside.

2Cream sugar, butter or margarine and shortening. Beat in eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.

3Stir in flour mixture just until blended.

4Shape dough into 1-inch balls.

5Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart.

6Bake 6 to 7 minutes or until set around edges. Cool on wire rack.

7Makes about 6 dozen.
