  • 3 c. White Lily all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400° and lightly grease baking sheets. Combine flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt; set aside.

    Cream sugar, butter or margarine and shortening. Beat in eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.

    Stir in flour mixture just until blended.

    Shape dough into 1-inch balls.

    Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart.

    Bake 6 to 7 minutes or until set around edges. Cool on wire rack.
