Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Sift flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.

    Mix shortening, sugar and eggs.

    Combine all.

    Chill thoroughly.

    Roll into balls about the size of small walnuts.

    Dip one side into sugar and cinnamon, mixed.

    Place balls, sugar side up, two inches apart, on ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake 8 to 10 minutes in hot oven (375°) until lightly browned.

    Yields 5 dozen.
