- 1 (1/4 oz.) pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- coarse salt
Directions

1In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water.

2Add the sugar, salt and enough flour to make a soft dough.

3Turn onto a floured board; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes.

4Pinch off about 2 tablespoons of dough for each pretzel.

5Shape into traditional pretzel twists or other shape as desired.

6Place on greased baking sheets.

7Brush with egg; sprinkle with salt.

8Bake at 425° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

9Cool on wire rack.
