  • 14 cup shortening
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 12 cup sour cream
  • 12 teaspoon vanilla
  • 14 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 13 cups all-purpose flour
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon baking powder
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 12 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 14 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 -4 teaspoons hot water

Directions

    In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.

    Add egg, sour cream and vanilla.

    Combine dry ingredients; add to the creamed mixture.

    Chill for at least 1 hour.

    Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets.

    Bake at 425 for 7-8 minutes until lightly browned.

    Remove to wire racks to cool.

    For frosting, melt butter in a small saucepan until golden brown; stir in sugar,vanilla and enough hot water to achieve a spreading consistency.
