  • 2 c. self-rising cornmeal
  • 1/2 c. flour (plain or self-rising)
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 or 3 Tbsp. bacon grease (shortening)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Preheat oven to 450°. Rub iron skillet with bacon grease. Heat skillet. Mix all ingredients in mixing bowl; stir well. Pour mixture into hot skillet and bake about 30 minutes or until sides look brown and crispy.
