- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 4 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. cooking sherry
- 2 Tbsp. dried parsley
- 1 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder or 1/2 medium clove, crushed
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 Tbsp. dried celery
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 to 3 c. water
Directions

1Brown beef and onion in a 6-quart heavy saucepan.

2When almost done, add mushrooms, including juice.

3Add all other ingredients (add water to the consistency you prefer).

4Cover and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

5Stir occasionally.

6Serve over spaghetti or other noodles.
