Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms
  • 1 lb. pork sausage
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. uncooked rice
  • 1 c. chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 can cut up tomatoes (No. 2 size)
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped or 1 Tbsp. powder
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Accent
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • hot peppers to taste (optional)

Directions

    Cut and wash mushrooms; set aside.

    Mash both meats in pan over high heat; pour off enough drippings in another pan to lightly brown rice.

    Then add to meat the onions, pepper and garlic.

    Cook, stirring, until onions are clear; add tomatoes, chili powder, mushrooms, salt and pepper.

    Add rice to meat mixture.

    Pour in a 2-quart casserole dish.

    Bake at 350° until rice is tender, about 30 to 40 minutes.
