Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef, cut into cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. or less shortening
  • 1 c. water
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. sliced onion
  • 1 (6 oz.) can undrained mushrooms
  • 1/4 c. soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 lb. can drained bean sprouts
  • 4 + c. hot cooked rice

    Brown meat slowly in hot shortening in pressure cooker.

    Add water, salt and pepper.

    Cook at 10 pounds pressure for 10 minutes.

    Release pressure under cold running water.

    Add onion and celery.

    Cook for 2 more minutes at 10 pounds pressure. Again, release pressure.

    Add undrained mushrooms to mixture.

    Mix soy sauce and cornstarch and slowly stir into mixture.

    Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.

    Add drained bean sprouts. Serve over hot rice.
