Ingredients

  • 2 c. shelled nuts (large pieces, halves)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • dash of salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Heat oven to 275°.

    Toast the nuts by placing on a cookie sheet in oven for 10 minutes.

    Combine sugar, water, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Bring to a boil and boil 2 minutes or until a candy thermometer reads 320°.

    Remove from heat and add vanilla and nuts. Stir until the mixture is cloudy.

    Pour into a buttered platter using 2 forks to separate nut clusters.

    Makes 1 pound.
