  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1/2 C packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 C water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Chinese 5-spice powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 C pecan halves

    1. Preheat ovent to 350F. Butter 2 large baking sheets.

    2. Melt 1/4 C butter in large skillet over medium heat. Add brown sugar, 1/4 C water, salt and spices; stir til sugar dissolves.

    3. Add nuts to sugar mixture and cook til syrup thickly coats nuts, stirring often, about 5 mins.

    4. Transfer nuts to baking sheets. Bake til golden, about 10 mins. Cool.
