Spicy Stuffed Mandarins

Ingredients
- 8 mandarins
- 4 pitted dates, cut in half
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1/4 c. white wine vinegar
- 6 whole cloves
- 1/8 tsp. salt
Directions

1Wash mandarins, cover with water and simmer 20 minutes.

2Drain and cool enough to handle.

3Cut off 1/4-inch top of mandarin.

4Put half of date in core of each mandarin.

5Mix all ingredients and heat to boiling, stirring until sugar is dissolved.

6Place mandarins in a baking dish.

7Pour 1/2 teaspoon of syrup over date and mandarin flesh, replace top.

8Cover mandarins with remaining syrup, bake for 20 minutes in 350° oven. Cool mandarins in syrup, drain before serving.

9Serves 8.
