  • 6 eggs (5 if extra large)
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • pinch of salt

    Separate eggs.

    Beat egg whites and salt until stiff.

    Beat egg yolks, water, sugar, vanilla and flour until a good sponge forms (about 4 minutes at medium speed).

    Fold in whites at low speed. Bake in an ungreased tube pan at 350° for 50 minutes.

    Invert pan about 20 minutes before removing cake.

    Cover with powdered sugar.
