- 3 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 c. chopped onions
- 1 c. sliced celery
- 1 c. grated carrots
- 2 c. cubed potatoes
- 3/4 c. barley
- 1 c. milk
- 2 lb. beef (cross cut)
- 8 c. water
Directions

1In a large pot combine beef, water, salt and pepper; bring to a boil.

2Reduce heat; add the barley, celery, carrots, onions and potatoes.

3Simmer for two hours.

4After two hours stir in the milk and serve with bread.

5Serves 10 to 12.
