Stuffed Green Peppers

Ingredients

  • 6 large green peppers
  • 1 lb. ground round
  • 3/4 c. instant rice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 c. shredded cheese

Directions

    Wash peppers and cut 1 inch ring off top.

    Clean out and discard seeds and membrane.

    Cut stem from top ring.

    Mix remaining ingredients together.

    Stuff peppers.

    Place 1 inch rings on top of each pepper.

    Press down.

    Stand peppers in baking dish upright, so that they fit snugly.

    Bake, uncovered, in a 350° oven for about 1 hour.

    Meat and rice should be tender and done. Serves 6.
