Stuffed Mushroom Bread

  • 1 loaf Italian or Vienna bread (unsliced)
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. poppy seed
  • 1 Tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. dry mustard
  • 12 oz. grated Swiss cheese
  • 8 oz. sliced fresh mushrooms

    Cut bread with crisscross cuts.

    This is just like scoring a ham.

    Cut to the bottom, but not through.

    Stuff with mushrooms and cheese.

    Melt butter; add other

    spices and pour over bread. Wrap in double thickness foil and bake in preheated 350° oven for 40 to 50 minutes.

    Serves well with steak or as an appetizer. This is also good with Cheddar cheese and ham chunks!
