Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients

  • 6 medium green peppers, remove stems, seeds and membranes and cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 c. onion, chopped
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. long grain rice
  • 4 oz. sharp cheese, shredded

Directions

    Precook the peppers in boiling salted water 5 minutes.

    Drain. Cook beef and onion until meat is slightly brown.

    Season with salt and a dash of pepper.

    Add tomatoes, water, rice and Worcestershire sauce.

    Cover and simmer until rice is tender. Add cheese. Fill pepper cups and place in baking dish.

    Put grated cheese on top and bake, uncovered, for 20 to 25 minutes at 350°.
