Sugared Cranberries

5 steps

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot Water
  • 10 ounces, weight Fresh Cranberries
  • 1-1/2 cup Sugar (white Granulated, Powdered, Or A Mix)

Directions

  1. 1
Mix honey with hot water. (Alternative is to cook 1/4 cup sugar into 1 cup water for a simple syrup.) Optionally, add orange zest, vanilla extract or cinnamon for flavor.
  2. 2
Soak 1raw cranberries in the honey/water mixture until coated.
  3. 3
Sprinkle white granulated or powdered sugar across a cookie sheet. I use a mixture because I like the dual purposes of coverage of the powdered sugar and the crunch of the granulated.
  4. 4
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the wet cranberries to the sugar mix on the cookie sheet. Stir until all the cranberries are covered and leave in the sugar mixture for 30 minutes or until sugar coating hardens.
  5. 5
Store in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator if they don't disappear instantly!
